Death

Major Arcana

Death

Death rides a white horse while figures from every station bow before the same passage; behind them, the sun rises between two towers, a reminder that ending and beginning sometimes share a door. The card speaks of closure, release, and real transformation, the kind that asks for no disguise. In tarot it is rarely literal; it is sacred pruning.

Upright

Something has completed its cycle, and its ending clears room for renewal. This can be symbolic grief, the shedding of a habit, a role, or an identity that no longer holds life. Something falls away so the sap can find another channel.

Reversed

Reversed, there is often attachment to what has already ended, or fear of crossing the emptiness between phases. You may be negotiating with an old skin you have already outgrown. Notice what your heart is still learning to release.
