Eight of Swords

The Eight of Swords shows a bound and blindfolded figure surrounded by eight swords, standing on marshy ground. Yet the bindings are loose and the path out is open. The card speaks of feeling trapped, mostly by the mind, when freedom is nearer than it seems.

Upright

A sense of being stuck may be more belief than fact, with the way out closer than the fear suggests. Question the story that says you have no choice. Loosening one assumption can begin to free the rest.

Reversed

Reversed, the bindings may be loosening as you begin to see your own part in the trap, or the fear may be tightening its hold. There can be the first step toward release. Notice which thought, once questioned, lets the most light in.
