The Hermit

Major Arcana

The Hermit

The Hermit walks alone with a lantern in his hand, high on cold and silent ground. The light he carries is small, but enough for the next step. The card speaks of withdrawal, maturity, and deep listening, not of isolation as punishment.

Upright

This is a season for reflection, study, or sober inner clarity that does not fit inside the noise of others. Solitude is revealing what the crowd had hidden. Trust that distance can be the space where your own voice regains its volume.

Reversed

Reversed, the lantern can dim into loneliness, hardened seclusion, or a refusal of the guidance and presence you actually need. Withdrawal becomes a wall rather than a window. Notice whether you are gathering yourself or simply hiding.
